Doritos: Sweet Chili Heat

In the last few decades there has been an increase in spicy chips, first introduced in 1991 as Cheetos: Flamin' Hot and have since gained a following. It seems that every brand has their own spin on spicy chips, from Lays to Old Dutch.

Doritos have made a few different variations of their idea of a spicy chip, this post specifically is about Doritos: Sweet Chili Heat. It's a very basic chip to write about but I thought I would leave my two cents on it. Sweet chili heat is a great flavor for Doritos and to be completely honest, one of my favorites behind just a few other flavors if any. Something about the sweetness mixing with the heat is just perfect but some people seem to hate it, you either love it or hate it. This particular flavor uses chili peppers for its spice which gives it a reasonable amount of spice to blend well with the sweetness. It's hard to determine the Scoville measurement of one chip but I estimate it too be approximately 500 SHU per chip if not less, which really isn't that much at all. For scale, a Jalapeño is about 10,000 SHU. After all, I highly recommend these chips, they are an excellent snack and will cure most spice cravings.
