Introduction

Spicy foods are enjoyed around the world by many different cultures. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Lord Luke Munz, you may know me from my other blog, The Project Dev Log, a blog about the development of a video game intended for Cool Math Games and websites alike. As stated in my profile, I am a hot sauce and spicy food enthusiast. Some of my favorite hot sauces are made from the confirmed hottest pepper in the world, the Carolina Reaper. The Carolina Reaper is a man made pepper created by a man named Ed Currie, he created the pepper because "it was his way of staying healthy with all those wild parties going on around him." stated Ed in an interview. The Carolina Reaper is one of the ugliest looking peppers in the world, the uglier the pepper, the hotter. The Carolina reaper has a spice measurement of 2.2 million Scoville units (SHU) at its peak, for scale a JalapeƱo has a measurement of 10,000 SHU at its peak.

The reason people like hot sauces and spicy foods in general is because of this substance called capsaicin. This substance is a noxious simulant, noxious meaning unpleasant and stimulant meaning a drug that speeds up messages between the brain and body, stimulants increase alertness and wakefulness in most cases. In simple terms it is an energy drug, ready to go. Some more popular examples of stimulants are, caffeine, sugar and cocaine. Stimulants cause feelings of euphoria. Euphoria means pleasure and immense amounts at that which explains why people enjoy spicy foods which causes them pain because, who would even enjoy pain? The reason capsaicin gives off feelings of euphoria is because when that burning sensation hits your tongue, your brain fires dopamine which causes euphoria to counter the burning sensation which explains why people eat spicy unpleasant flavors and feel great after, if they eat spicy foods in excess as one does.
