Valentina Salsa Picante

Valentina Salsa Picante or Valentina's, is a genuine Mexican hot sauce created in Guadalajara, Mexico by a man named Don Manuel Maciel Mendez in 1960. Frank's Red Hot was created in 1920, making it a more 'classic' hot sauce compared to Valentina's.

Valentina's uses puya chilli peppers for their spice. The word 'Picante' translates to spicy in English and 'Muy' translates to very, so the Valentina's flavor Muy Picante (black labeled bottle) is their version of extra hot, similar to Frank's Red Hot: Xtra Hot. I like too consider Valentina's as the Mexican Frank's, Valentina's is Mexican, Frank's is American. Both sauces have exceptionally good flavor with a modest kick that doesn't sacrifice too much flavor, some may argue that Valentina's has a better flavor than Frank's. Personally Valentina's does have a better flavor, however it isn't as spicy as Frank's to my tastes even the extra hot (Muy Picante) after all, regular Valentina's has a Scoville measurement of 900 Scoville Units (SHU) while Frank's Original has a Scoville measurement of 450 SHU. After a while of only using Valentina's the flavor gets tedious. A regular bottle of Valentina's contains 350 milliliters of hot sauce (11.83 fluid ounces) whereas a regular bottle of Frank's contains 354 milliliters (11.97 fluid ounces) of hot sauce. Valentina's in my personal opinion is not a chicken wing sauce. My reasoning for this is first of all, to be blunt I just don't think it would be that good on chicken wings and my second reason is because it's a Mexican hot sauce with the word "Salsa" in the name it's more like a sauce for Mexican foods like tacos or burritos and it does in fact go great with those foods in my opinion.
